The Spaniard was one on one with the goalkeeper and had all the time in the world
Who much did you say he cost?
£70million? No I don’t believe you.
There is a curse at Chelsea that has just consumed it’s next victim, first it was Andriy Shevchenko, then Fernando Torres and now it’s Alvaro Morata.
That’s going in right?
it’s something about moving to Chelsea that makes star strikers less effective than a chocolate teapot.
Morata has faced criticism all season for a lack of goals and an inability to really affect games the way a £70million striker should.
And what he’s just done against Burnley will not help to quiet any of those voices.
Yep, hes clear through on goal this is going to be it
Having already missed a chance earlier in the game Morata was put clean through on the break by N’Golo Kante.
The midfielder slid the perfect ball over the halfway line to leave Morata bearing down on goal with only the keeper to beat.
He shift it onto his right foot and everyone in the ground knew he was going to curl it into the corner with his classy right foot.
That ball is in the corner of the net, isn’t it?
Morata did attempt to roll it into the bottom corner except to the crowds amazement, he put it wide of the post.
the moment the ball flashed past the post the pressure on the Spaniard’s shoulders suddenly increased ten fold.
Not only was he already battling Olivier Giroud for the starting birth but now it seems that he can’t even remember how to play football.
To make matters even worse for how Morata must have been feeling, Chelsea were almost immediately made to pay for his miss with Ashley Barnes deflecting a shot past Thibaut Courtois to level it up.
No sadly it’s not
Morata has score just once in his last 11 league games and the Twittersphere made their feelings very clear about how bad this miss was…
