So, about Mainz vs. Freiburg.
A huge basement battle took center stage in the Bundesliga. But the game was quickly marred with controversy following a slew of crazy incidents.
Firstly, it appeared both teams were going into the break goalless.
Though, Mainz were awarded a penalty deep, deep into stoppage time courtesy of VAR.
Both sets of players went down the tunnel, until the referee called them all back. He points to the spot after video review with Mainz eventually converting the penalty through Pablo de Blasis.
Then the second half was delayed because fans hurled an avalanche of toilet rolls onto the pitch, in protest of the Monday night kick-off.
Madness.
It finished two-nil to Mainz, who are now on 30 points just like Freiburg.
