ENGLAND'S World Cup hopefuls are in high spirits as they prepare for the friendlies against Holland and Italy.
Gareth Southgate is taking a final look at his players before choosing who he wants to take to Russia.
England are gearing up to face Holland and Italy with World Cup spots up for grabs
The Three Lions chief will be casting a close eye over Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere after his return to form.
And Ashley Young will be hoping to make an impression after nailing down the Manchester United left-back spot.
Southgate has named four uncapped players - James Tarkowski, Nick Pope, Alfie Mawson and Lewis Cook - in his squad.
Holland and Italy both failed to qualify for the World Cup after dreadful qualifying campaigns.
But both will be able to provide top-class opposition for the Three Lions, who take on Belgium, Panama and Tunisia in their group.
England face Holland in Amsterdam on Friday night before hosting Italy on Tuesday 27.
One player who will not be making the trip to Russia is Ross Barkley after his long-term injury troubles.
Southgate confirmed: "I think Ross has just not been fit.
"He went (to Chelsea) on the back of a long-term injury, quite a serious one, and only had a couple of matches really.
"So I don't think he's available for selection now anyway, so he's unfortunate in the way that has played out in this year in particular.
"But if he can get back playing and playing regularly I'm sure, post-summer - It's going to be difficult for him I think to get the number of games he needs now. But we know he's a talented player."
