Wrexham ended a run of four successive draws with a 2-0 win over Chester to climb up to fourth place in the Vanarama National League.
Second-half strikes from Scott Quigley and Nicky Deverdics gave Dean Keates’ side victory in front of a crowd of 6,511 at the Racecourse Ground as they did the double over their local rivals for the first time since 1976.
Quigley opened the scoring in the 61st minute when he found space to fire past Andy Firth in the Chester goal.
The Dragons wrapped up the victory after 69 minutes when Chris Holroyd’s wayward shot fell to Deverdics in the box and he slotted past Firth.
