Ellis Harrison secures late point for Rovers

Ellis Harrison’s injury-time goal earned Bristol Rovers a point from a 1-1 draw with League One promotion-chasers Scunthorpe at the Memorial Stadium.
The striker converted Liam Sercombe’s cross from the right with a low finish from inside the six-yard box to secure a result his side barely deserved.
Scunthorpe took the lead when Duane Holmes stole in behind Rovers’ defence after 61 minutes to sweep Funso Ojo’s low ball past Adam Smith with his left foot.
The visitors had gone close at the start of the second half when Ojo’s shot was deflected up onto the crossbar.
After Holmes’ goal, Smith kept Rovers in the game with a fine save from Tom Hopper in the 71st minute.
Rovers edged a forgettable first half in which neither goalkeeper had a save to make. Kyle Bennett fired over for the hosts after 13 minutes from Rory Gaffney’s lay-off.
