Hartlepool in trouble after defeat to Halifax

Two goals in three second-half minutes were enough for FC Halifax to defeat fellow strugglers Hartlepool 2-0 at The Shay.
Michael Woods went close with an effort from the edge of the area and Devante Rodney was thwarted by great defending from Scott McManus as Hartlepool edged a quiet first half, while the hosts’ only half-chance came through Matthew Kosylo who shot wide.
Louis Laing headed over and Jake Cassidy hit the post for the visitors as they looked the more likely to break the deadlock but Halifax opened the scoring through Nathan Hotte’s deflected effort after 75 minutes.
The Shaymen soon doubled their advantage when Scott Loach parried an effort straight to striker Ben Tomlinson and he headed home as the Yorkshire side secured their first league win in 2018.
