MacDonald at the double

Peter MacDonald scored twice as Stirling beat Annan Athletic 3-0 to extend their winning streak to four games.

After the first half had finished goalless, Ross McGeachie broke the deadlock for the hosts in the 56th minute.

MacDonald missed a penalty in the 70th minute but fired in the rebound to double his side’s lead before grabbing his second eight minutes later.

Leaders Montrose drew 2-2 with Elgin thanks to Martin Rennie’s second-half equaliser.

The home side took the lead through Brian Cameron after nine minutes but Montrose were back on terms before the break courtesy of Gary Fraser’s header.

Elgin were back in front 12 minutes into the second half thanks to Chris McLeish but Rennie earned his side a share of the spoils 15 minutes before the end.

Peterhead and Berwick played out a 1-1 draw, with Rory McAllister levelling things up from the spot in the 76th minute after Steven Thomson had put Rangers in front in the first half.

David Goodwillie bagged a brace as Clyde beat basement club Cowdenbeath 2-0, while Mark McGuigan was on target as Stenhousemuir beat Edinburgh City 1-0.
