Adam McDonnell helps Aldershot overcome Orient

Aldershot cut the gap at the top of the National League to a point as they came from behind to win 3-2 at Leyton Orient.
With Macclesfield held at home by Torquay, Aldershot capitalised despite falling behind inside the opening minute.
Orient needed only 15 seconds to take the lead as Jobi McAnuff slipped the ball through to Macauley Bonne, who poked it between the goalkeeper’s legs.
The hosts continued to dominate, with McAnuff twice going close after cutting in off the left.
But Shots levelled a minute before the break, with Shamir Fenelon diverting the ball past Dean Brill when played through to give the half-time team talks a different complexion.
The second half was just two minutes old when Aldershot took the lead. Adam McDonnell’s shot hit the crossbar and bounced down, and before anyone could decide if it had crossed the line or not, Will Evans headed home to make sure.
Orient were level seven minutes later thanks to an acrobatic volley from George Elokobi but Aldershot had the final say as McDonnell beat one man before finishing from the edge of the area.
