Dundee United failed to close the gap at the top of the Ladbrokes Championship as they were stunned 3-0 by Morton.
The second-placed Tangerines remain 11 points behind leaders St Mirren but now only have one game in hand after goals from Thomas O’Ware, Scott Tiffoney and Jack Iredale handed the hosts a comprehensive defeat.
Morton, who started the day in seventh, took the lead 10 minutes before half-time when O’Ware headed in Michael Tidser’s free-kick.
Tiffoney added a second two minutes into the second half when he found the top left corner from 25 yards.
Left-back Iredale got in on the act with 10 minutes left with a fine run and finish as United’s five match winning league run at Tannadice came to an emphatic end.
