Doncaster come back to earn point at high-flying Shrewsbury

Doncaster hit back from 2-0 down to collect a point from a 2-2 draw at high-flying Shrewsbury.

Goals from Mat Sadler and Carlton Morris put the hosts in the driving seat before substitutes Mathieu Baudry and Issam Ben Khemis hauled Doncaster back to earn a share of the spoils.

Shrewsbury controlled the first half for long stages and made the breakthrough after 21 minutes when defender Sadler swept home after Doncaster were unable to clear a Shaun Whalley corner.

The hosts continued to press with Whalley’s free kick headed over the crossbar by Carlton Morris before Alex Rodman, set up by Ben Godfrey, saw his well-struck shot turned away by goalkeeper Ian Lawlor.

Lawlor made an outstanding save for the visitors at the start of the second half from Aristote Nsiala’s header before Niall Mason dragged a shot wide at the other end.

Shrewsbury doubled their lead seven minutes after the restart through Norwich loanee Morris, who hammered home following Nsiala’s knock down from another Whalley corner.

Doncaster halved the deficit when Frenchman Mathieu Baudry headed home at the near post after Shrewsbury failed to clear.

The visitors equalised with 14 minutes remaining when a deep left-wing cross from Ben Khemis was adjudged to have crossed the line despite the efforts of home goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
