Brighton vs Chelsea - Brighton midfielder Steve Sidwell sits out clash with former club
Posted Friday, January 19, 2018 by PA
Steve Sidwell remains Brighton’s only injury absentee for the visit of his former club Chelsea.
The midfielder underwent a back operation in September and still faces another few months on the sidelines.
Boss Chris Hughton otherwise has a fully-fit squad as the Seagulls go in search of a first Premier League win in 2018.
Chelsea forwards Pedro and Alvaro Morata are suspended for the game following their dismissals in the midweek FA Cup win against Norwich.
Defender Gary Cahill and playmaker Cesc Fabregas (both hamstring) are again
out, with head coach Antonio Conte expected to make changes after giving many fringe players an opportunity in Wednesday’s cup replay, which went to
extra-time and penalties.
Ross Barkley is in the squad and could make his debut off the substitutes’
bench, while the Blues have a number of undisclosed doubts.
