MANCHESTER UNITED'S season has had a few bumps along the road.

And the first-team players were forced to swerve another one on their way to training on Wednesday morning.

Storm Eleanor has battered parts of Britain over the last 24 hours with 100mph gales leaving thousands without power.

And it caused a minor havoc for the Red Devils when they were forced to swerve around trees heading to their Carrington training complex.

United's gruelling run of fixtures continues on Friday night when they face Championship side Derby County in the FA Cup third round.

Boss Jose Mourinho has made it no secret of his anger over his side's hectic run of matches which included nine matches just in December alone.

Boss Jose Mourinho is ready to splash the cash during the January transfer window

With his side 15 points behind rivals Man City and seemingly out of the title race, Mourinho has already been knocking on the door of United's boardroom asking for cash to spend in January.

The Portuguese manager heaped pressure on the likes of Ed Woodward after claiming the only reason Pep Guardiola's side are cruising to the title is because they spent more in the summer.

And he is wasting no time in lining up his targets after telling agents to find United two defenders and a No10 this month.

Despite a £260million spending spree, the sulking boss admitted his side are "in trouble" if they don't sign anyone during the winter window.

Marcos Rojo could find his place in the side under threat with Mourinho plotting to sign two defenders

He said: ""I don't know about transfers.

"In this moment we are in trouble, in two to three weeks' time maybe we recover and we breathe in a different way, can we improve now or do we wait until the summer? I cannot say.

"If somebody comes, welcome. If nobody comes, we are going to fight with the players we have."
