AC Milan's Leonardo Bonucci celebrates victory over Inter
AC Milan secured their place in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia after a 1-0 extra-time win over rivals Inter Milan on Wednesday.
Inter had seen a first-half goal ruled out by the video assistant referee (VAR) before teenage forward Patrick Cutrone came off the bench to break the deadlock after 104 minutes and set up a clash against Lazio.
Goalkeeper Antonio Donnarumma made his first senior start for AC Milan, with both younger brother Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marco Storari out injured.
The Rossoneri, who sit 11th in Serie A, created a chance after 18 minutes when a header from Giacomo Bonaventura was tipped over by Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.
Inter, though, thought they had taken the lead when Ivan Perisic's effort after a corner was put into his own net by Donnarumma. However, following consultation with the VAR, the goal was disallowed because Andrea Ranocchia was offside.
Nerazzurri captain Mauro Icardi went close with a backward header before, on the hour, Joao Mario fired straight at Donnarumma from point-blank range.
AC Milan midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura sent a diving header over and Suso saw his deflected cross loop onto the top of the bar as the tie went into extra-time.
Spaniard Suso then turned creator as he flicked on a ball over the top into the path of Cutrone, who calmly slotted past Handanovic from 10 yards.
