Lincoln missed the chance to move int the Sky Bet League Two automatic promotion places as they drew 0-0 at 10-man Newport.
Exiles defender Mark O'Brien was sent-off after catching former Newport striker Matt Green in the 53rd minute, but Danny Cowley's men failed to make their man advantage count.
Shawn McCoulsky almost sparked the first-half into life but could only fire a shot wide after Frank Nouble crossed from the left-wing.
The Imps had an opportunity to break the deadlock when Neal Eardley launched a counter-attack with an inch-perfect pass to Nathan Arnold, but the winger failed to beat Day with the goal at his mercy and the first-half ended 0-0.
Day was called into action after the break to keep the scores level after Imps captain Luke Waterfall rose highest to guide a header towards the bottom corner.
Things turned sour early in the second half when Newport defender O'Brien crunched Matt Green and got nowhere near the ball to earn himself a red card.
But Lincoln could not find the winner and remained in sixth place.
