Fernando Alonso: Cristiano Ronaldo is better than Messi

Even Formula 1 stars are wading into the Cristiano Ronaldo-Lionel Messi argument, with Fernando Alonso throwing his weight behind the Real Madrid star.
The McLaren man is a huge football fan and is a big supporter of Los Blancos, being officially presented as an honorary member of the club this year, despite actually being bestowed with that title in 2012.
Due to his scheduling problems, he only managed to make it to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in September for the presentation and has now discussed his love for the club with Globoesporte.
"I was born to be a Real Madrid fan," he said in an interview, while attending the Brazilian Grand Prix.
"For me, Cristiano is better than Messi. Of course, Messi is an incredible talent but as a Real Madrid fan, I'm only interested in Los Blancos players."
Alonso, who revealed he still tries to play the game as much as can, also stressed that he has a soft spot for Real's Brazilian contingent and labelled the Selecao as the team to beat at next year's World Cup.
"I still love football a lot and try to play it sometimes too but above all, I most enjoy watching on TV," he continued.
"As I said, I'm a big fan of Real Madrid and really like Marcelo and Casemiro, two great Brazilians who play for the club.
"It is difficult to know who will win the World Cup but right now, I think that Brazil are the favourites.
"Spain can be strong too and it would be beautiful if they played each other in the final. Brazil and Spain are the best teams."
