Forest Green extend unbeaten run to four with Crawley stalemate

Thomas Verheydt scored his first goal in English football to rescue a point for struggling Crawley in a 1-1 home draw against Forest Green.

Christian Doidge gave the visitors the lead in the 67th minute with a composed finish, but Dutch striker Verheydt celebrated his return from injury with his side's first league goal for 512 minutes to earn a share of the spoils.

The visitors almost took the lead in the 16th minute when Keanu Marsh-Brown fired against the crossbar after good work from Doidge, before the Welsh forward's header was also denied by the woodwork eight minutes later.

Marsh-Brown went close again but the Rovers winger put his free-kick over after goalkeeper Glenn Morris was cautioned for handling outside the area, while at the other end, substitute Josh Payne rattled the crossbar shortly after the interval.

Forest Green went ahead against the run of play after Doidge pounced from close range after Morris parried a powerful effort from Marsh-Brown.

However, former MVV Maastricht striker Verheydt hit back to level 11 minutes from time with a close range header from a Jordan Roberts corner to earn Crawley's third successive league draw.
