Alex MacDonald was the hero for Mansfield as his superb 84th-minute strike handed his side a 1-0 victory at Coventry.
MacDonald was set up by Danny Rose before crashing home brilliantly from 25 yards to earn Mansfield their first league win in six matches.
The Sky Blues almost went in front early on when Jordan Ponticelli's snapshot was expertly saved by Conrad Logan.
The Stags goalkeeper was busy in the opening quarter, soon saving again from Jodi Jones.
Mansfield's first chance came from Kane Hemmings, who crashed a shot inches wide from the edge of the box.
Stags midfielder Paul Anderson was then denied by a superb save from Lee Burge before the hosts responded with Marc McNulty seeing his well-struck effort kept out by Logan.
Mansfield twice went close in the second period when MacDonald's looping strike landed on the roof of the net, before Hemmings curled a shot just wide.
The Sky Blues pressed in the latter stages, with Jack Grimmer planting a header wide from a good position.
Logan was then alert as he saved well from Max Biamou.
The hosts were made to pay for those missed chances as MacDonald drilled home a fine late winner for the visitors.
