Substitute Anton Forrester struck late on as Port Vale salvaged a 1-1 draw against Newport at Rodney Parade.
Forrester found the back of the net with 10 minutes remaining after Matty Dolan had put the Exiles ahead.
The home side came close to opening the scoring in the 16th minute when Frank Nouble controlled the ball brilliantly on the edge of the box before having his shot blocked.
With the Exiles dominating possession, Tom Anderson cleared the ball off the line following a Shawn McCoulsky header.
Despite Newport's dominance, the score remained deadlocked at the break.
The Exiles finally scored in the 54th minute when Dolan smashed the ball into the bottom right-hand corner after a through ball from Robbie Willmott.
With County pressing, they lacked concentration at the back and Forrester took full advantage by catching them on the break with his shot finding the left-hand corner of the net.
Michael Flynn's side pushed for a winner, but had to settle for a point on a night where they should have had so much more.
