Glen Rea banned for Pompey clash

Posted Friday, November 03, 2017 by PA

Luton midfielder Glen Rea will miss the FA Cup first-round tie with Portsmouth through suspension.

The Irishman serves a one-match ban after being sent off in the closing stages of last weekend's 3-0 Sky Bet League Two defeat to Coventry.

Alan Sheehan will be back in contention for the Hatters following his suspension against the Sky Blues, but fellow defender Alan McCormack (groin) remains out.

Birmingham loanee Andrew Shinnie, who has returned to fitness following five weeks out with an ankle injury, is pushing for a start after scoring twice in the midweek Checkatrade Trophy victory over AFC Wimbledon.

Portsmouth are waiting on the fitness of striker Oli Hawkins.

He landed awkwardly on his ankle in training on Thursday and was due to be assessed ahead of the game.

Defender Damien McCrory has returned to parent club Burton to be assessed after suffering a setback in his recovery from knee surgery.

Adam May and Curtis Main are both back in training, although Saturday's game will come too soon for the latter.
