Steve Watson hopes for home comforts against Chelmsford

Steve Watson will go in search of his maiden home win as Gateshead boss when Chelmsford head for the International Stadium in the FA Cup first round.

Watson, who picked up a runners-up medal with Newcastle after they lost to Arsenal at Wembley in 1998, claimed his first victory as Heed manager at Buxton in the last round to take the Vanarama National League club into the main draw.

He will be without Jamal Fyfield on Saturday as the defender continues his recovery from a knee injury, although Callum Williams overcame a knee problem of his own to retain his place for last Saturday's 0-0 league draw with leaders Dover.

Goalkeeper James Montgomery returned to the bench for that match after missing the previous five with a shoulder injury and will push deputy Dan Hanford as he attempts to force his way back into the starting line-up.

Chelmsford will be without Kudus Oyenuga through suspension.

The midfielder is serving a three-match ban following a red card in the Vanarama National League South clash against Dartford.

Former QPR winger Gianni Crichlow could be involved after the 19-year-old completed a move to the Clarets earlier in the week.

Midfielder Jonny Giles and Anthony Church continue their recoveries from long-term knee injuries.
