Florentino Perez: It is a golden era for Real Madrid

The final in Cardiff was the best in the history of the Champions League claimed Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, at the launch of the book La Leyenda Continua (the legend continues) to commemorate the achievement.

Perez along with a contingent of Real players attended the event held in the honorary suite at the Santiago Bernabeu and the author, MARCA journalist Enrique Ortego, said that the book was "emotional for Madrid fans" and possibly the most special of the 11 he has written.

"These players have made history again," said Perez.

"We are in a golden era with the best trainer, Zinedine Zidane, with the successor of Di Stefano, Cristiano Ronaldo, with the great captain Sergio Ramos and with the best players in each position.

He emphasised the importance of the European Cup in the history of Los Blancos.

"It (Cardiff) was the best in the history of the Champions League," explained Perez.

"With the European Cup it started an unrepeatable story, with the European Cup it began to transmit an incredible ambition from one generation to the next .

"Each player and coach that wears this shirt knows that they have a responsibility to win the European Cup."
