Antonio Conte wants to replace Michy Batshuayi at Chelsea
The Blues hitman has struggled to make a real impact at Stamford Bridge since arriving for £33m last year.
Following his dismal performance in Chelsea's shock 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace, Antonio Conte is on the lookout.
The Italian wanted Fernando Llorente in the summer to help bolster his options up front.
But only Alvaro Morata came in from Real Madrid, leaving Chelsea stretched going forward.
The Blues shortcomings have been exposed in the Spain international's recent absence due to a hamstring injury.
And according to The Telegraph, Conte is ready to bring reinforcements in in the New Year.
It is said the Chelsea manager is an admirer of Palace hitman Christian Benteke, who missed Saturday's clash with a knee injury.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have also considered pursuing Leicester striker Jamie Vardy in the past.
They could revive their interest, with the club more likely to prioritise players with Premier League experience.
A list is being put together of potential targets for January.
And a new arrival could well see Batshuayi loaned out as Chelsea eye a more reliable back-up to Morata.
The Telegraph add Batshuayi would have left on loan if Tottenham signing Llorente was bought.
The Belgium international demonstrated his frustration at being hooked on 57 minutes at Palace.
However, it is claimed he was more angry with himself for his performance rather than Conte.
Morata is set to return for Chelsea when they host Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday (7.45pm).
