Fraser Fyvie scored a goal in each half as Dundee United leapfrogged opponents Dunfermline to second spot in the Scottish Championship standings after a 3-1 win at East End Park.

Fyvie opened the scoring when Jamie Robson's cross from the byline was parried by Dunfermline goalkeeper Sean Murdoch and he was on hand to slot home in the 35th minute.

Scott McDonald scored his fourth goal of the season shortly before half-time as the Tangerines took a two-goal cushion into the break.

Fyvie then fired a 25-yard drive in the 58th minute to add the gloss to the scoreline before Callum Smith headed in a 77th-minute consolation goal.
