Scottish League One leaders Raith extended their winning run to six matches thanks to a 2-0 victory over Airdrie at Stark's Park.

After a goalless first half, Jason Thomson put the hosts ahead in the 74th minute when he tapped home from close range before Dario Zanatta's shot from outside the 18-yard box found the top corner at the death.

Ryan McCord scored a hat-trick as Arbroath remained six points further back and moved up a spot to second after a 6-2 victory away to Stranraer.

Thomas O'Brien put the visitors ahead with a 16th-minute header, while Danny Denholm doubled their lead before Ryan Thomson's close-range effort reduced the deficit for the hosts.

Two more goals before the break put Arbroath in complete control though, with McCord beating goalkeeper Cameron Belford to open his account for the afternoon before Denholm netted his second to make it 4-1 at the interval.

McCord's second arrived four minutes into the second half and he added the gloss with a 68th-minute penalty after Scott Agnew pulled one back for Stranraer three minutes earlier.

There were seven goals shared in another high-scoring match between Alloa and Albion at Indodrill Stadium which Rovers dominated with a 5-2 win and moved up a spot to fourth.

Alan Trouten netted in each half for the visitors after Connor Shields' header opened the scoring just five minutes in.

Sean Higgins and Joao Pereira Vitoria were also on target for the Wee Rovers with Kris Renton and Scott Taggart replying with a second-half effort each for the home side, who stay seventh.

Forfar remained rooted to the bottom of the table after suffering their sixth-straight league defeat as they went down 3-0 at East Fife with 10 men.

Chris Duggan opened the scored early on for the Fifers while Mark Docherty scored a penalty midway through the first half and added a second spot-kick just after the hour mark following David Cox's handball.

The visitors, who parted company with manager Gary Bollan earlier this week, lost Michael Kennedy to a second yellow card four minutes after the break for a foul on Nathan Flanagan.

Elsewhere, Ayr dropped down a place to third despite a 2-0 victory over second-bottom Queen's Park where Jamie Adams and Lawrence Shankland were on target.
