The Reds are set to let their talisman leave for the Nou Camp after the Brazilian handed in a transfer request at Anfield.

Barca have agreed to pay up to €160m (£148m) for Coutinho.

The Catalan club have been chasing the 25-year-old since Neymar left for Paris St-Germain in a record-breaking £198m deal.

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group made Coutinho aware of their decision before he left for international duty with Brazil, according to Yahoo Sports.

The Reds have been busy since thrashing Arsenal 4-0 in the Premier League on Sunday.

They have made several bids for Monaco forward Thomas Lemar as well as completing a deal for Naby Keita who will join from RB Leipzig next summer.

And Liverpool are also chasing the signature of Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk.

The reports claim the Reds have asked Barca to delay the announcement of their signing of Coutinho until they have successfully found a replacement.

That man would seem to be Lemar but Liverpool could still move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain despite Chelsea agreeing a £35m fee for the Gunners ace.

The Reds have made three signings to date, adding Dominic Solanke, Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson to their squad.

Liverpool return to action after the international break with a tough fixture away at Manchester City.
