Sheffield Wednesday pair Morgan Fox and Liam Palmer could return to contention for the home game against QPR.
Fox (back) and fellow defender Palmer (Achilles) are both back in full training after missing the Owls' first two matches.
Head coach Carlos Carvalhal has no major new injury worries following the midweek Carabao Cup win against Chesterfield, for which he made several changes.
Striker Steven Fletcher is expected to shake off a knock, while winger George Boyd and striker Fernando Forestieri are hoping to return to the starting line-up.
QPR will check on Conor Washington ahead of the trip.
The striker, who scored twice in the opening-day win over Reading, picked up a knock against Northampton in midweek but is expected to be fit.
Defender Alex Baptiste could be handed a debut following his free-transfer switch from Middlesbrough.
Grant Hall (tendonitis) and Jordan Cousins (thigh) remain on the sidelines.
