Bale schedules in golf tournament while Wales fight for World Cup spot

While he sits out Wales' crucial World Cup qualifier with Serbia due to suspension, Gareth Bale will be preparing for a crack at topping the leaderboard in a different capacity as he captains his country in a celebrity golf tournament.

The Celebrity Cup event takes place on July 1 and 2 at Celtic Manor, just east of Cardiff, and is set to feature recognisable faces from across the British Isles.

Captaining a Welsh team that contains former footballer Craig Bellamy and comedian Rob Brydon, among others, the Real Madrid man comes up against Bradley Walsh's England, Ronan Keating's Ireland and Rory Lawson's Scotland.

Bale also appeared at the event two years ago and will raise money for the Marie Keating foundation by his attendance.
