Valverde promises to be a less inhibited coach than Luis Enrique

Barcelona's first-team squad with new coach Ernesto Valverde set to change the club in this regard.His time with Athletic Club saw him garner a reputation as a coach who loves to tinker with his team and often made changes whilst Luis Enrique was labelled as the exact opposite.

Under their former coach Los Cules had twice been the club who had made the fewest changes per season in recent years with 20 substitutions left unused in the current season.

That followed on from 24 unoccupied changes during games in 2015/16, with the trip to Valencia that year seeing Luis Enrique completely ignore his bench for the whole 90 minutes.

In Valverde's four seasons with the Basque club there has only been one season in which he left any substitutions unused and this came in 2014/15 when he failed to use all three changes in only two matches.
