The hot button issues Valverde will have to address

Barcelona have switched coaches but will be hoping not to have to change captains, as Ernesto Valverde must carve out a role for the iconic midfielder.

Jeremy Mathieu and Javier Mascherano have played only part-time roles this season, and the defence is also up in the air.

"I'm evaluating a lot of different factors," Iniesta said of waiting to make a decision. "I have a year left but now I am on vacation and thinking about next season."

With Samuel Umtiti's strong debut season, Mascherano has seen less playing time, and it is unclear what his role will be under the new coach.

Mathieu, in turn, is expected to leave but the club haven't let the player know their intentions as of yet.

In fact, the French defender has played under Valverde at Valencia, but at this stage of his career has it difficult to secure first team football.
