Spanish police reportedly stopped Gerard Pique on Thursday for speeding and reckless driving and, as a result, the Barcelona defender is expected to be punished with six points on his driving license and a fine.
The 30-year-old was pictured in his car as police took his details at the side of the road and he did not look impressed, and has since turned to social media to insist the entire story has been made up.
British newspaper The Mirror broke the news on Saturday and reported that the incident should earn him the costly points on his license.
It was just the latest incident in a tough week for the player as he spent last weekend in hospital with a virus, missing his team's 4-1 win in Las Palmas as a result, before seeing Real Madrid move a step closer to the LaLiga title with a win over Celta Vigo.
"My objective over the next few months is to create a media company that is different, honest, authentic that belongs to the players, I'm sick of it [the lies]," the Catalan defender said of the incident, giving his side of events.
