Man United boss Jose Mourinho is considering a move for Real Madrid defender Pepe
The Portuguese centre-back is set to leave Real with his contract expiring next month.
The 34-year-old is ready for a new challenge and wants to carry on playing top-level football so will ignore a mega-money move to China.
Inter Milan are eager to snap him up but are set to miss out on Champions League football next season.
Spanish outlet Don Balon claim that could play into Manchester United's hands if they win the Europa League and are playing elite European football next term.
It is said that Mourinho wants to bolster his defensive ranks and sees Pepe as the perfect addition to his squad.
The two worked together during the Special One's reign as Real boss and could linked up again if United are competing in the Champions League next season.
Pepe would be up for grabs on a free meaning United could still splash the cash on other defensive targets as well.
