With each passing game, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim are moving closer to their Holy Grail — qualification to next season’s Champions League.
And to coach Julian Nagelsmann, the current campaign has been about playing a brand of football that entertains the club’s fans.
“If you go to at concert, you don’t want to listen to boring music, the 29-year-old coach was quoted as saying by the Bundesliga website.
Entertain they did in their last game, as they threw caution to the wind and found the back of the net five times, conceding thrice.
Adam Szalai and Kerem Demirbay scored two each, and a spectacular Mark Uth strike helped Hoffenheim to a 14th top-flight flight win to edge themselves closer to Champions League qualification, while enthralling the fans throughout.
“We all become footballers for days like this,” Demirbay said after the game.
“This game had everything: passion, emotion, challenges, fight, everything, it’s what sets football apart.”
With five games remaining, victory on Friday over FC Koln will all but seal qualification for Nagelsmann’s men.
