Coventry 1 - 1 Charlton Athletic: Coventry in the mire following relegation and toy pig protest against Charlton

Coventry dropped into Sky Bet League Two following a 1-1 draw with Charlton as supporters from both sides threw toy pigs onto the pitch in protest against their clubs' owners.

Just seconds before the game was about to start, hundreds of the toy pigs were thrown onto the playing surface and put kick-off back by seven minutes.

When they were finally cleared, referee Darren Handley got the game under way. However, more pigs were thrown onto one corner of the Ricoh Arena pitch within seconds and the two teams set off down the tunnel to wait for them to be cleared again.

When the game finally got going, Charlton struck the bar in the 20th minute as Nathan Byrne got his head to Jay Dasilva's perfect cross.

But it was the home side who took the lead in the 28th minute after a clever corner. George Thomas took it short and, after a neat passing move, it was Thomas who found himself eight yards from goal to supply the crucial finish.

Coventry had two great chances to give themselves a cushion at the start of the second half but Thomas was denied by Declan Rudd before Jodi Jones shot wide after a quick break.

Charlton drew level in the 55th minute as Ricky Holmes' corner was headed in by Patrick Bauer from inside the six-yard box.

Coventry almost went ahead 10 minutes later but Thomas headed wide when Jones' shot was parried back to him by Rudd and, moments later, the goalkeeper made a great one-handed save to deny Thomas again.
