Bristol Rovers vs Shrewsbury

Posted Friday, March 31, 2017 by PA

Bristol Rovers can call on Ryan Sweeney and Jake Clarke-Salter again for the Sky Bet League One clash against Shrewsbury.

The pair missed Rovers' shock 1-0 defeat to bottom club Coventry last weekend as Sweeney was on Republic of Ireland Under-21 duty and Chelsea loanee Clarke-Salter was away with the England U20 side.

Sweeney is likely to replace Jonny Burn, who was forced off midway through the second half at Coventry, and renew his successful central defensive partnership with skipper Tom Lockyer.

Daniel Leadbitter, Cristian Montano and Byron Moore are also pushing for recalls, with boss Darrell Clarke considering changes to keep the Pirates' slim play-off hopes alive.

Defender Joe Riley has handed Shrewsbury a fitness boost by training ahead of their trip to Bristol.

Riley was limping towards the end of Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Bolton, but the full-back trained with the rest of the squad this week.

It means boss Paul Hurst has almost a fully-fit squad for their crucial Sky Bet League One game with the Shrews just a point above the relegation zone.

Just Abu Ogogo, out with a long-term knee injury, will be missing for Town.
