Southend report no fresh injury problems for the visit of Walsall.

The Shrimpers returned to winning ways in midweek with a 2-0 victory at Coventry, where forward Nile Ranger, who was one of five changes, marked his comeback to the starting XI with an early goal.

Defenders Adam Thompson and Jason Demetriou, midfielder Michael Timlin and forward Simon Cox are all expected to be back in training ahead of Saturday's match.

Goalkeeper Mark Oxley, though, continues his recovery from a fractured elbow.

Walsall will be without on loan Celtic defender Eoghan O'Connell after he suffered a hamstring injury.

The centre-back will have a scan on Friday to determine the extent of the damage but is definitely out of the trip to Roots Hall.

James O'Connor is also struggling with a hamstring injury having broken his nose in the 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood on Tuesday.

Florent Cuvelier and Reece Flanagan remain out for Jon Whitney's side with hamstring and dislocated shoulder problems respectively.
