Striker Ellis Harrison has returned to training after an ankle injury and could feature.
Defender Joe Partington built up his fitness in a midweek reserve-team fixture against Cheltenham after missing the last three games.
Southend will have defender Ryan Inniss available again following a one-match ban.
Winger Stephen McLaughlin has stepped up his recovery from an ankle ligament injury which has sidelined him since New Year's Eve and could be back in contention.
Striker Nile Ranger continued to make good progress following his groin problem, while on-loan Tottenham midfielder Luke Amos impressed for the under-21 team in midweek so may be drafted into the first team group.
Forward David Mooney (ankle) is another expected to soon be available for selection again, while goalkeeper Mark Oxley continues his recovery from a fractured elbow.
