Walsall vs Chesterfield - Walsall's Jason McCarthy should be fit to face Chesterfield
Posted Tuesday, March 07, 2017 by PA
Walsall expect to have Jason McCarthy available against Chesterfield.
The on-loan Southampton defender was on the receiving end of a horror tackle that earned Oldham's Lee Croft a red card at the weekend and though he completed 90 minutes, boss Jon Whitney admitted he would have to check on him with the short turnaround.
Reece Flanagan (shoulder) is nearing a return for the Saddlers, though he is yet to play this season following a long-term lay-off.
Whitney will be unable to call on Florent Cuvelier (calf) until next month at the earliest.
Chesterfield boss Gary Caldwell must consider whether the players he brought on at the weekend deserve a start.
The Spireites won for the first time in eight games at Swindon thanks to a late winner from Reece Mitchell who, along with fellow replacements Dan Gardner and Ched Evans, swung the game in their team's favour.
Jon Nolan (hamstring) is expected to be back to full fitness by the end of the week.
Paul McGinn, who is suffering with a similar issue to Nolan, is expected to play for the reserves on Tuesday.
