Modric and Benzema turn up on their day off

Zinedine Zidane may have awarded a day of rest to his Real Madrid squad on Sunday but Luka Modric and Karim Benzema decided to put in some extra mileage nonetheless.

Los Blancos secured a 2-0 win over Espanyol thanks to goals from Alvaro Morata and Gareth Bale, the winger choosing to spend time with his family after the match having put in a high workload to return from injury.

That left Modric and Benzema, who both missed the weekend game, to enjoy a gym session at Valdebebas ahead of a trip to Valencia on Wednesday night.
