Scunthorpe United vs Walsall - Scunthorpe look for injury problems to ease for Walsall encounter

Scunthorpe boss Graham Alexander will hope his injury problems continue to ease as his side prepare to face Walsall at Glanford Park.

Alexander welcomed back both David Mirfin and Paddy Madden to his starting line-up on Saturday but they could not prevent the Iron losing their 26-game unbeaten home record against Shrewsbury.

Nevertheless both are expected to keep their places in the starting line-up as Alexander looks for an immediate reaction to the 1-0 reversal.

Sam Mantom could be in line to return after missing the last two games with a groin strain but Jordan Clarke (ankle) looks set to miss out again.

Reece Flanagan remains out for Walsall as he continues to recover from a dislocated shoulder and is likely to miss the rest of the season.

Saddlers boss Jon Whitney may be tempted to change his side for the first time in six games after Saturday's 4-1 defeat at Bolton.

Simeon Jackson, Franck Moussa and Scott Laird are pushing to start following the loss at the Macron Stadium.

The Saddlers are five points behind the Sky Bet League One play-off spots.
