Southend and Bolton frozen out

Posted Saturday, January 21, 2017 by PA

Southend's home game against Bolton on Saturday was called off due to a frozen pitch.

Referee Charles Breakspear made the decision after a morning inspection at Roots Hall. Tickets will remain valid for the rearranged fixture, or fans can claim a refund from their respective clubs' ticket offices.

A statement on Southend's website read: "The club did everything possible to enable the game to go ahead by applying covers and heaters to vulnerable areas overnight, but unfortunately some areas of the pitch were unfit to play on."
