Everton's bid for Morgan Schneiderlin has been turned down by Man United
The Toffees are keen to land the France midfielder this month but will have to up their offer after an initial bid believed to be around £19m was turned down by United.
Schneiderlin, 27, wants to quit Old Trafford because of the lack of playing time this season under Jose Mourinho.
But United want to recoup as much of the £25m they paid Southampton for his services in 2015 as possible.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman will now hope the club’s hierarchy sanction an improved offer.
Former Southampton boss Koeman wants a reunion with Schneiderlin, who played his best football for the Saints under the Dutchman.
But West Brom are also chasing his signature and they had an offer of £18m turned down before Christmas.
Schneiderlin arrived in England from Strasbourg in 2008 and spent five years with Southampton before joining United.
He featured regularly for former United boss Louis van Gaal with 39 appearances in his debut campaign.

But Schneiderlin has made just eight appearances so far under Mourinho.
The arrival of £89m man Paul Pogba, the improvement of Ander Herrera and Michael Carrick’s ability to prolong his career have all combined to limit opportunities for the France international.
