Blackburn Rovers vs Newcastle - Lowe back for Rovers
Posted Monday, January 02, 2017 by PA
Jason Lowe will return to Blackburn's squad when they entertain Newcastle at Ewood Park.
The versatile Lowe has served a two-game suspension and is back in a Rovers group that remains without the banned Darragh Lenihan.
Ben Marshall is again doubtful due to the groin injury and illness he has suffered, while Danny Guthrie missed the Huddersfield game with a knock and Corry Evans was forced off amid fears he could have aggravated a long-standing groin problem.
Owen Coyle's injury list also includes Elliott Ward (ankle), Adam Henley (hamstring) and Tommie Hoban (shoulder).
Newcastle could be without Mohamed Diame, Chancel Mbemba and Christian Atsu as they prepare for the African Nations Cup.
It is unclear exactly when the trio will head off to link up with Senegal, DR Congo and Ghana respectively, but they look set to miss the Rovers trip.
Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey serves the third game of his five-match suspension.
The Magpies will be out for revenge after Rovers snatched a 1-0 win at St James' Park in November.
