Stevenage Borough vs Colchester United - Stevenage boss Darren Sarll expected to ring the changes

Stevenage manager Darren Sarll is expected to make a number of changes as his side welcomes Colchester in the Sky Bet League Two on Saturday.

With two games in three days over the New Year weekend, Sarll intended to "utilise his squad" and, after the Boro lost their Boxing Day game 2-1 to Cambridge, the starting XI will have a re-shape.

Tom Conlon (knee ligament damage) remains Stevenage's only long-term absentee.

Sarll's side currently sit 12th in the table with two wins out of five in December.

Colchester boss John McGreal must decide whether to change from the same starting XI of the past five unbeaten matches.

Forward Chris Porter is back in contention having made his return from two months out with a hamstring injury with a late appearance off the bench in a 1-0 win at Luton on Boxing Day.

Defender Matt Briggs, who has not played since May due to a hip injury, has returned to training, while Jermaine Grandison could also soon be involved following his free-agent move after leaving Shrewsbury in the summer.

Midfielder Sammie Szmodics continues his rehabilitation from a foot problem as does Lewis Kinsella (ankle), and Doug Loft (Achilles), but Luke Prosser (knee) is a long-term absentee.
