Winger Adam Hammill serves the final game of his three-match ban following his straight red card in the recent defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.
Strikers Adam Armstrong and Marley Watkins are among those pushing for recalls but may have to settle for a place on the bench again.
David Cotterill is back in contention for Birmingham after missing Tuesday's defeat at Derby with flu.
The winger has trained and will be assessed before the club make the trip to Oakwell.
Paul Caddis is getting closer to fitness after a shoulder injury but remains out while Clayton Donaldson is also sidelined with an Achilles problem.
Jacques Maghoma is available for the next two games before he leaves for January's African Nations Cup with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
