Port Vale vs Chesterfield - Port Vale caretaker boss Michael Brown ponders his options
Posted Friday, December 30, 2016 by PA
Michael Brown will pick Port Vale's team for the visit of Chesterfield after Bruno Ribeiro resigned following the Boxing Day defeat to Walsall.
Brown, who was Ribeiro's assistant, is looking to arrest a slump which has seen the Valiants fail to record a league win since mid-November and has lost the last three games in succession.
Striker Rigino Cicilia struggled in the lone striker role against Walsall but is likely to keep his place.
Fellow forward Martin Paterson has left the club after his short-term contract expired.
Chesterfield will give a late fitness test to Connor Dimaio ahead of the trip.
The Irish midfielder has suffered a knock to his knee but Spireites manager Danny Wilson is hopeful he will be fit.
Forwards Conor Wilkinson and Kristian Dennis are pushing for starting spots following the 3-0 Boxing Day defeat at Rochdale.
Goalkeeper Tommy Lee (shoulder) and defenders Dan Jones (foot) and Paul McGinn (hamstring) remain out.
