Simeone: I may still sign new Atleti deal
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has responded to rumours that he will part ways with the club, insisting he could still renew his contract.

Simeone opted to reduce his deal at Vicente Calderon so that it expires at the end of next season. This decision came after two defeats in the Champions League final, and a poor run in La Liga this campaign.

However, the Argentine made it clear that it does not mean he will not decide to sign a new deal in the near future.

"People can think what they like, but I can still renew my contract – or is it already written that I can't renew again?" he told BeIN Sports.

"Journalists are very quick to create controversy, that's fine, you have to accept it and, possibly, you have to answer the best you can so these controversies don't happen.

"I've decided not to speak about it anymore because what's said from now on, it's up to how people want to interpret it. The results of my team haven't been good enough.

"I'm clear with the Atletico Madrid fans in that I frame situations with facts. Words come and go, but facts determine people. When I leave, it's going to be for the good of the club."
