Wolfsburg 1 - 0 Eintracht Frankfurt: Jeffrey Bruma boosts Wolfsburg to victory
Posted Sunday, December 18, 2016 by PA
Wolfsburg moved three points clear of the Bundesliga relegation zone thanks to a 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
Jeffrey Bruma headed in Julian Draxler's corner to put the Wolves in front after just over half an hour.
Mario Gomez squandered a great opportunity - and not the first of the game - in the 55th minute when he sent a shot into the side netting.
The next Gomez miss swiftly followed, with Lukas Hradecky this time making a fine one-armed save.
Josuha Guilavogui then tripped Makoto Hasebe inside the penalty area and, after some initial hesitation, the referee pointed to the spot.
However, substitute Alexander Meier ballooned his spot-kick over the crossbar as Wolfsburg held on to victory.
