Gillingham vs Milton Keynes Dons - Andy Barcham pushing for Dons start

Posted Friday, December 16, 2016 by PA

AFC Wimbledon's Andy Barcham is pushing for a start when Port Vale visit Kingsmeadow.

The winger, who turns 30 on Saturday, has not featured for a month due to a hamstring injury but has now returned to full training.

Full-back Jon Meades faces a late fitness test on an ankle injury but Chris Whelpdale is unavailable due to a groin problem.

Will Nightingale has suffered a setback in his recovery and is set to have a knee operation next week, while Darius Charles (thigh) will not be available despite returning to full training.

Port Vale could have Jerome Thomas and Ben Purkiss available.

Both were due to return to training on Friday, with Thomas having missed a month with a hamstring problem and Purkiss unavailable since mid-October.

Even if Saturday's match comes too soon, both should definitely be in contention for the Boxing Day clash with Walsall.

Midfielder Anthony Grant serves the final game of his five-match ban and joins injured duo Sam Foley and Anton Forrester on the sidelines.
