Sheffield Wed. vs Rotherham United - Barry Bannan facing late fitness test ahead of Rotherham clash
Posted Friday, December 16, 2016 by PA
Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan faces a late fitness test before the home derby with Rotherham.
Bannan was forced out of the midweek home win against Barnsley due to an on-going foot problem and will be monitored.
Striker Fernando Forestieri serves the final game of his three-match ban, but midfielder Almen Abdi could return to contention following a hamstring strain.
Head coach Carlos Carvalhal is still without striker Gary Hooper (hamstring) and winger Will Buckley (shoulder).
Rotherham are monitoring the fitness of forward Izzy Brown after he came off at Fulham in midweek due to a hamstring concern.
Brown's hamstring was "feeling tight" so the on-loan Chelsea teenager will be checked before kick off.
Strike partner Danny Ward also left the field early in the 2-1 defeat with a wrist injury, but will be fit.
Peter Odemwingie (ban) and Lee Camp (knee) should return to the squad as the Millers look to extend an unbeaten run at Hillsborough going back to 1981.
