Ten-man Borussia Dortmund came from behind to snatch a point in a 2-2 draw at Hoffenheim on Friday night.
Mark Uth put Julian Nagelsmann's men in front after only three minutes, but Mario Gotze soon had Dortmund back on terms.
Sandro Wagner restored Hoffenheim's lead shortly afterwards before a red card for Marco Reus saw the visitors reduced to 10 men in the 41st minute.
They nevertheless managed to equalise through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang early in the second half.
The draw saw Hoffenheim move, provisionally, up to third place, one point and two spots above their opponents.
The hosts flew out of the traps and went ahead when Uth raced on to Benjamin Hubner's cross and took the ball around a hesitant Roman Weidenfeller in the Dortmund goal before slotting home.
Aubameyang and Marcel Schmelzer both missed the target by inches as Dortmund tried to provide an immediate response.
And they did not have to wait too long before Gotze brought them on terms from Ousmane Dembele's pass.
Hoffenheim hit back and regained the lead in the 20th minute when Wagner flicked Hubner's header past Weidenfeller.
Dortmund's hopes of recovering suffered a setback when Reus was given his marching orders for a second yellow card before half-time.
But, less than a minute after Wagner had fired against a post for Hoffenheim, Thomas Tuchel's men drew level, with Aubameyang taking advantage of another excellent Dembele pass to score.
There were chances at both ends for a winner, with Hoffenheim seeing a strong claim for a penalty waved away five minutes from time, but Dortmund rode their luck to earn a deserved point.
